The Jean-Baptiste Marty Promenade

The Jean-Baptiste Marty Promenade overlooks the Consigne Quay and the old harbour. The Bureau de la Consigne used to be an office where any ship commissioned in Sète had to put down a deposit.

The quay was formerly the site of salting workshops for “blue” fish (sardines, anchovies, mackerel) but today it is home to premises where fishing nets are repaired.
